Coaching
My experience receiving coaching from Sarah has been nothing but positive. Sarah coached me for numerous different auditions, but most notably my auditions for postsecondary acting programs. During my sessions with Sarah I felt challenged and supported in my work with contemporary, classical and TV/Film texts. Sarah makes such a clear effort to get to know her students as artist and people, and this makes all the difference in making her students feel comfortable to make broad and committed choices in the work. Every time I went into an audition for theatre school I felt confident knowing that I had explored so many possibilities within my audition pieces in my coachings with Sarah. Sarah’s vast experience in the field as well as her experience having gone to theatre school, made her an excellent mentor to me in my audition and decision making process. I have recommended her coaching services to many of my friends and have nothing but good things to say about my work with Sarah.

Working with Sarah helped my professional development immensely. Her instruction on the development of my stage presence seamlessly transferred to meetings, presentations and leadership roles. While working with her, she often would explain how having a commanding presence on the stage can transfer to a boardroom or can aide in leading a team.
The voice work she taught has changed the way I engage a room incredibly. After learning how to control my voice, and the effect it has on audiences, I can confidently get my point across. No longer do I have to yell to speak to a large or noisy room. Simply projecting my voice, as Sarah taught me, can call for the attention of a group. When working in a position where having regular team meetings was required, knowing how my voice was affecting how I was being perceived allowed me to dictate in what manner my message would be received.

Sarah McVie was one of the most passionate educators I had the pleasure of being taught by in university. Her malleable class structure allowed for students to both express their talents and hone new skills; all in an effort to discover their characters' true intentions. Her hyperactive and constantly creative nature meant that old dusty historic scripts were brought to life and given modern-day meaning. I very much looked forward to walking into Sarah's drama class and am sure you will as well.

PHILOSOPHY
Everyone has the ability to express themselves in a myriad of nuanced colours using their voice and bodies. Breath and thought are at the centre of each human expression. Play is vital to this work and to helping us find new ways of being with ourselves and each other.
PRIVATE COACHING
Sarah has been coaching individuals in acting and voice for 30 years. Her approach is rooted in a thorough exploration of the vocal apparatus combined with the activation of imagination to produce supported and effective communication using voice and physicality.
POST SECONDARY TEACHING
Sarah taught drama courses for the Carleton University Department of English from 2009-2016. In collaboration with Professor Yvan Cazabon of Carleton’s Azreilli School of Architecture, and fuelled by the growing interest in drama studies on campus, a cross discipline theatre collaboration project was created each winter term. Sarah was also instrumental in establishing a Drama Program for the Carleton English Department that offers students the opportunity to earn a Minor or Concentration in Drama. Currently Sarah teaches courses at the Toronto Metropolitan University’s Chang School of Continuing Education ‘ACT II Studio’ Program and at Armstrong Acting Studios.
